Bettendorf’s new police chief, Doug Scott, comes from a long line of law enforcers. His dad led police departments in Muscatine and North Carolina.

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - Two years have passed since the downtown Davenport apartment building collapsed, killing three and injuring others. The families of the victims and the residents who survived say they’re still waiting for justice. They filed suit against the owner, Andrew Wold, as well as city officials and firms that worked on the building, just days after the building fell on May 28, 2023. Those lawsuits were combined into one, which is still making its way through court.

ROCK ISLAND Co., Ill. (KWQC) - The former Rock Island County employee who officials say stole $900,000 over 21 years made her initial court appearance Friday. During the court appearance, the presiding judge ordered Leisa Streeter, 62, to be released on home confinement with GPS monitoring. The state argued, since there’s money that is still unaccounted for and Streeter travels regularly, she could flee. The defense argued, she has been cooperative with the investigation.

CLINTON, Iowa (KWQC) - Police said they have arrested someone in the series of burglaries at Clinton businesses. Police said that early Friday they arrested a boy and charged him with criminal mischief and burglary in connection to four incidents at local businesses: Spring Green Lawn Care, Smokin’ Joes, Pawn Central and Dollar General. He had been reported as a runaway. Police said they used security footage and tips from the public to arrest him.
