BETTENDORF, Iowa (KWQC) - The cause of a large weekend fire at Wallace’s Garden Center in Bettendorf is still under investigation. One firefighter was taken to the hospital. Garden center owner Kate Terrell told KWQC TV6 that she hopes to reopen by the end of the week, but for now the business is temporarily closed. The fire happened Saturday afternoon and could be seen across the Quad Cities Area.

ROCK ISLAND Co., Ill. (KWQC) - The former Rock Island County employee who officials say stole $900,000 over 21 years made her initial court appearance Friday. During the court appearance, the presiding judge ordered Leisa Streeter, 62, to be released on home confinement with GPS monitoring. The state argued, since there’s money that is still unaccounted for and Streeter travels regularly, she could flee. The defense argued, she has been cooperative with the investigation.

COLONA, Ill. (KWQC) - Colona police are asking for help finding a man after a house fire Tuesday morning. Police have been unable to find the resident of the home on the 500 block of 3rd Street. A recent post on the Colona Police Department’s Facebook page said they haven’t been able to find 60-year-old David Gibbs after his residence caught on fire. He is considered missing and endangered. Gibbs is 5-foot-8, 190 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes.

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - Pleasant Valley School District Superintendent Brian Strusz stopped in to the Quad Cities Today Superintendent’s Corner. Superintendent Strusz kicked off the conversation by sharing what P.V. aims to accomplish this school year. “Number one is always building relationships with our kids, making sure we do that and welcoming our new staff,” Strusz said. “We introduced, last week, 31 new teachers to our district, which is exciting.
