Young non-obese men without known chronic disease were recruited to participate in a placebo-controlled, randomised, double-blind cross-over study to test the effects of carrageenan intake vs placebo, each over a period of 2 weeks, on insulin sensitivity and metabolism. The trial was performed at the Study Centre of the University Hospital Tübingen, Department of Internal Medicine IV (Endocrinology and Diabetology), Tübingen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, between October 2015 and December 2016.

AbstractFemale crested gibbons (genus Nomascus) perform conspicuous sequences of twitching movements involving the rump and extremities. However, these dances have attracted little scientific attention and their structure and meaning remain largely obscure. Here we analyse close-range video recordings of captive crested gibbons, extracting descriptions of dance in four species (N. annamensis, N. gabriellae, N. leucogenys and N. siki).

The present analysis focused on two population-based Cooperative Health Research in the Region of Augsburg (KORA) cohorts for discovery and validation. The inclusion and exclusion criteria are illustrated in Additional file 1: Figure S1. The KORA S4 study enrolled 4261 participants from 1999 to 2001 [21]. The KORA S4 discovery sample used in the present analysis was restricted to those aged 55–74 with available proteomics data (n = 1653).
