After several days of well-above-average temperatures, sweater weather will return to Southern California with a chance of rain even arriving on Friday. “We have temperatures today that are a little bit cooler. In fact, this week as a whole, we have cooler temperatures and even a chance of rain by the end of the week,” KTLA Meteorologist Henry DiCarlo said Monday.

A warming trend for Southern California is set to peak, bringing above-average temperatures to the region’s inland areas Wednesday through Friday. “We’re going to get a very hot forecast with temperatures climbing into the 90s, if not today, we’re going to get there on your Thursday and your Friday. So, get ready for that,” KTLA Meteorologist Henry DiCarlo said.

The National Weather Service (NWS) is sending a survey team to a Los Angeles County neighborhood after a tornado possibly touched down Thursday morning. A resident on the 9500 block of Glencannon Drive in Pico Rivera contacted KTLA saying a tornado had struck around 3:15 a.m.“There are big pine trees that have been uprooted and landed on cars. There is downed power lines and a water main break and flooding the street,” viewer Carolina Roberts said.

After months of dry weather heading into 2025, Southern California is bracing for its third winter storm event in less than a month, and this week’s system is expected to be the strongest yet. “Looks like Wednesday, Thursday, Friday we’ll have at least on-again-off-again rain showers. It will accumulate, so we do get some decent rainfall numbers,” KTLA meteorologist Henry DiCarlo said Monday.

The second of two relatively mild storms is moving out of Southern California Friday but a much larger system appears to be building in the Pacific. The moderate rain totals from this week’s storms have helped the Los Angeles burn zones remain relatively stable, but early indicators have the National Weather Service warning that a “significant storm” could hit around the middle of next week.
