A man suspected of shooting at a drone near a park in Southern California is facing attempted murder charges after he allegedly opened fire on officers as he tried to flee on Thursday. A 911 call reported the initial drone shooting near Claremont Hills Wilderness Park on the 4000 block of North Mills Avenue, the Claremont Police Department stated in a news release Friday.

A judge will hear a motion Friday requesting that the Los Angeles County district attorney and his entire office be removed from the highly publicized case involving the possible resentencing of convicted murderers Erik and Lyle Menendez. The motion was filed by the defense, who argue that District Attorney Nathan Hochman and the D.A.’s Office are biased against the brothers. “The family does not want to go through this charade anymore with the D.A.,” defense attorney Mark Geragos said.

A motorist is facing multiple charges, including attempted murder, for a car-to-car shooting incident that took place in South Gate late last month. “On April 30th, our officers witnessed a car-to-car shooting near Firestone Blvd and Azalea Ave. When they attempted to stop the vehicles, a pursuit began — with the suspect continuing to shoot while fleeing,” the South Gate Police Department stated in a post on Instagram Thursday.
