    The big day finally arrived for two California sea lion pups to return to the ocean after being found malnourished, as Southern California beaches were at the height of a toxic algal bloom. It took the shy pups about 15 minutes to finally leave their crates as a crowd watched them enter the Hermosa Beach waters. The pups, named “Wren” and “Hue,” were brought to the Marine Mammal Center Los Angeles (MMCC) for treatment last month.

    A 19-year-old woman has been booked for murder in the death of a man found with gunshot wounds on Pacific Coast Highway last month, Long Beach police said Tuesday. The victim, 19-year-old Jordan Mosby of Atwater, was pronounced dead after being found May 27 on the 200 block of East Pacific Coast Highway with a gunshot wound to his upper body.

    Police are searching for a woman in handcuffs who they say stole a patrol vehicle while being detained in the Hollywood area late Monday night. The incident occurred shortly before midnight as police were conducting an investigation in the area of Franklin and Orchid avenues, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson confirmed to KTLA. It was unclear what prompted the investigation, but the spokesperson said that a woman who was placed in handcuffs drove off in the LAPD vehicle.
