SIDNEY, Neb. — A local investment group with deep ties to the Sidney area purchased the former Cabela’s world headquarters campus in an off-auction deal valued at $1.5 million. 59 Properties, LLC announced Monday it closed the purchase of the two-building corporate office complex, totaling more than 457,000 square feet on a 34-acre campus in Sidney. The deal, which includes warehouse and data center space, was made in cooperation with Bass Pro Shops, which acquired Cabela’s in 2017.

SIDNEY, Neb. — A single-vehicle crash caused significant property damage in a Sidney neighborhood early Sunday morning after a car drove through fences, a garden and struck a garage. The incident occurred around 3 a.m. on 16th Avenue between Ash Street and Birch Street on the north side of town. Eyewitness Dave Dickey told News Channel Nebraska the silver Chevy car plowed through his backyard fence and garden fencing, damaging multiple garden beds and posts.

SUNOL, Neb. — One person was hospitalized Saturday night following a single-vehicle crash on Link 17E, about one mile south of Sunol in Cheyenne County. According to the Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Office, the SUV exited Interstate 80 at the Sunol interchange and began swerving into ditches along both sides of the roadway beginning at County Road 18. The vehicle struck a mailbox and several road signs before coming to rest in a ditch on the east side of Link 17E near Lodgepole Creek.

SIDNEY — The Sidney Police Department is notifying the public of a scheduled training exercise set for Friday evening, May 8, at West Elementary school. The exercise is intended to provide officers with hands-on training in a realistic school setting. The department said the drill will involve the use of simunitions, a type of non-lethal training ammunition designed to simulate real-world scenarios.

SIDNEY, Neb. — Morgan Haupt raced to victory in the 5th Annual Big Boy Big Wheel Race on Wednesday, completing the 2.86-mile course in just over 15 minutes to earn his first win and the official Big Wheel title belt and trophy. Haupt, competing in his debut race, was voted the pre-race favorite and awarded a five-second head start.
