KNOP-TV is a television station that operates on virtual and VHF digital channel 2, affiliated with NBC. It is located in North Platte, Nebraska, and is owned by Gray Television. This station has two sister stations: KNPL-LD, which is a CBS affiliate on channel 10, and KIIT-CD, a Class A Fox affiliate on channel 11. All three stations share studio space on South Dewey Street in downtown North Platte. The master control and some internal operations are managed at the facilities of their sister station, KOLN, located on North 40th Street in Lincoln. The transmitter for KNOP-TV is positioned at the site of its previous studio along US Route 83 in the northern area of North Platte.

GERING, Neb. (KNOP) - A Wyoming man is dead following a motorcycle crash in Gering on Sunday. According to the Nebraska State Patrol, the crash happened at 8:55 a.m. MT on Highway 71, north of the Highway 92 junction. A preliminary investigation shows the motorcycle, driven by David Tillman, 43, from Gillette, Wyoming failed to navigate a curve and left the roadway, rolling multiple times. Tillman died at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.

(KNOP) - A 20-year-old man from El Salvador was sentenced to nearly six years in federal prison last week after leading Nebraska law enforcement on a high-speed chase in stolen vehicles while illegally possessing firearms. Michael Alexander Ayala-Ramirez was sentenced to nearly six years in prison on one count of possession of firearms by a prohibited person. There is no parole in the federal system. After Ayala-Ramirez’s release from prison, he will start a 3-year supervised release.

Firefighters were dispatched to South Dairy Road at around 12:15 p.m. for a report of a grass fire. Several rural volunteer fire departments are on scene working to put out the fire. A Red Flag Warning is in effect until mid-evening Monday. Temperatures at the scene were in the low 80s, with winds gusting up to 28 miles per hour. This is a developing story.
