Upon arrival, officers located and arrested Devin C. Roper of Long Beach and Rendell M. Haynes of Gulfport. Two other individuals fled on foot.

    Lindy Callahan, a Gulfport sports legend, passed away Wednesday at the age of 97. Born in Vicksburg and raised in Meridian, Callahan was a dual-sport athlete at Ole Miss, playing both football and baseball. After graduation, he played professional baseball in the Cotton States League and Alabama/Florida League from 1951-53. He then turned the cleats in for a clipboard, accepting a job as coach and teacher at Gulfport High School in 1953.

    The Gazebo GazetteGULFPORT (GG) — Lindy Callahan, a Gulfport sports legend, died on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at the age of 97. A native of Vicksburg, Callahan played football and baseball at Ole Miss. He began his long association with Gulfport High School in 1953 as a teacher and coach. From 1955 to 1965, he served as Athletics Director, Head Football Coach, and Head Baseball Coach.

    by Hunter Dawkins, Publisher/Owner – [email protected] or [email protected] COUNTY (GG) — Two incumbents from the city of Biloxi and Gulfport were defeated Tuesday, April 22, 2025 in their political party primary runoff elections.  In Ward 3 of Biloxi, Robert “Mike” Nail received the majority of the votes in the primary runoff election over the 3-term incumbent Dixie Newman.  In Ward 1 of Gulfport, Kendal Lamar Buckner beat four-term incumbent Kenneth “Truck” Casey.

    Incumbents in Biloxi and Gulfport were defeated during Tuesday’s municipal primary runoff elections, meaning new faces are coming to city hall. In Biloxi’s Ward 3, Robert “Mike” Nail received the majority of votes over three-term incumbent Dixie Newman in the Republican primary runoff. In Gulfport’s Ward 1, Kendal Buckner beat four-term incumbent Kenneth “Truck” Casey in the Democratic primary.
