A Black History Month exhibit is set to be on display Friday at the Gulfport Arts Center. This exhibit will feature Black artists, quilters, authors, and more to highlight the importance of preserving art and history. Margo Hines, one quilter out of the artists to be featured, is reminded of why she fell in love with the art of quilting and knitting, through every stitch. “The quilting part started when I grew up with my grandmother and she and her sisters would quilt,” Hines said.

But those in charge of showing these homes have agreed to do business differently, putting their old ways in the rearview. “Long gone are the days where you’re going to be able to pull into a driveway and say, ‘Hi, can you show me this house real quick?’ and you run out there. (WLOX) - Life jackets and water toys are signs it’s going to be a fun-filled day in the pool at Jackson County Exceptional School. “We call it water therapy,” said P.E. teacher and swim coach Suzi Grubbs. “We’re able to get the wheelchair kids out of the pool and just kind of get them in, out of the wheelchair, and just have some fun time in the water.”For 13 years, Grubbs has taught PE and coached swim at the school.
