By 9th-CD, $141K, OC100K/N3X, 3yo/up, 6f, 5:13 p.m. ET. WORLD RECORD (Gun Runner) in his second start for WinStar and BBN Racing going seven over Churchill's main track last May was certainly impressive when he won by 6 1/4 lengths. That effort garnered the colt 'TDN Rising Star' honors and the Rodolphe Brisset trainee proceeded to run third in the Maxfield Stakes over course and distance, and then he checked off the GII Amsterdam Stakes at the Spa in late July.

AUBURN, Wash.–The headline in the local edition of The Seattle Times on Wednesday, June 19, 1996 was full of elan as it fired off a bold prediction the day before the opening, “Racetrack Will Help Put Auburn On The Map.” The building of Emerald Downs, which replaced the venerable and beloved oval at Longacres, was set to anchor development in the region and usher in a new era for the city which the paper said would attract “gamblers, shoppers and spectators.” Some folks quoted were optimistic...

UNMATCHED WISDOM (Into Mischief) posted a 98 Beyer figure after a muddy debut score during the Belmont At The Big meet last summer and was promptly pinned with a 'TDN Rising Star.' The colt's year also included a win in the Curlin Stakes at the Spa in mid-July. Showing some power late in the game, Mila Rose (Vekoma–Lucky Lady Lawyer, by Lawyer Ron) rallied to keep her perfect record intact as she successfully faced allowance types at Keeneland on Thursday afternoon. The 7-5 choice was keen early, but the 3-year-old filly was shuffled towards the middle of the pack. Needing to bring her 'A game' by the top of the lane, Mila Rose started to uncork and her late gears proved best as she won in the final jumps over Wisconsin Gal (Army Mule).
