A Vancouver lawyer has admitted to improperly notarizing documents and solemnly declaring affidavits that contained information he knew was false in order to help a corporate client secure a $3.3-million loan from a U.S. bank. Jason Chieh-Sheng Wang admitted his misconduct in a consent agreement with the Law Society of B.C., a summary of which was published online last week. According to the document, Wang was retained by “a group of companies” in April 2023 to facilitate the loan application.

There’s a new record for the most Grouse Grinds completed in a single day. Kelowna resident Sean Green climbed “Mother Nature’s Stairmaster” a total of 21 times between 4 a.m. and 10 p.m. Friday during the annual Multi Grouse Grind Challenge, which also serves as a fundraiser for North Shore Rescue. The previous record for most ascents of the gruelling 2.9-kilometre trail that gains 800 metres of elevation and features 2,830 stairs on the way to the top of Grouse Mountain was 19, set back in 2019.

The B.C. River Forecast Centre is maintaining flood watches for several regions in the Interior and adding high streamflow advisories for several others. In the centre’s latest update Friday, new high streamflow advisories were issued for the Upper Fraser River, the South Thompson and Nicola regions and the West Kootenay, Okanagan and Similkameen regions.

A B.C. Realtor who lost a court case against a former client earlier this year has now had his licence cancelled by the provincial real estate regulator. Alan Hu and his Personal Real Estate Corporation recently entered a consent order agreement with the B.C. Financial Services Authority, in which they agreed to pay a $120,000 fine and have their licences cancelled.

A Chilliwack man has been sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 12 years for murdering a 64-year-old man in his home in Mission in 2022. Matthew Bauer received his sentence Thursday, according to a news release from the Lower Mainland’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team. A jury convicted Bauer in February of the second-degree murder of Mission resident Holbert Tew. The killing happened on Dec. 14, 2022, at Tew’s home on 4th Avenue near Mary Street in Mission.
