KHYBER: Gunfire again erupted on the Pak-Afghan border on Monday evening, with border forces of both countries attacking each other’s positions with heavy artillery and tank fire. Sources at the Torkham border told Dawn that the second round of cross-border fighting erupted when people in the nearby localities were busy offering Ramazan taraweeh prayers with artillery shells dotting the border skies and forcing the remaining residents to flee to safety.

KHYBER: Armed terrorists, affiliated with various groups, are understood to have gradually moved out of the plains of Tirah valley here, taking refuge in vacant houses in the hilly terrain, as security forces have fortified their positions in key locations of the valley. Sources in the region told Dawn that the situation in most parts of the valley was calm, with no major terror-related incident reported last month.

KHYBER: Local government representatives have blasted the provincial government for denying them development funds, and termed it against the very manifesto of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf. Reacting to the allocation of funds to only 51 tehsil out of the total 131 tehsils of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, they insisted that getting their share in development funds was their constitutional right, which the provincial government had violated.
