Venturing to a quaint village on the fringes of Bristol can unexpectedly whisk you away to picturesque scenes reminiscent of the Alpine regions. The village of Compton Martin, just 30 minutes from the centre of Bristol and nestled in the Mendips, has been the backdrop for dramatic events including murders, hermit lifestyles and numerous property disputes over the years.

"They used to lock people up in the cellar below this shop"Bath is known for its Georgian architecture, Roman roots and independent shops. It's a wonderful place to visit, but parking can be an issue and it's very much on the beaten track. After a while, you might start to think about what else our country has to offer and go over to Wiltshire. Well, just down the road in Bradford-on-Avon, you'll find a completely different vibe altogether.

There have already been two wildfires in the West Country this spring, with at least four breaking out nationwide over the weekend (5-6 April). In Cornwall, there were a number of gorse fires on Bodmin Moor, with the smoke temporarily closing the A30 at Bolventor on Saturday 5 April. Bath, a city renowned for its stunning skyline, owes much of its charm to the surrounding hills. The World Heritage Site is encircled by seven steep ascents, each offering a spectacular view of the iconic Georgian architecture. However, conquering these hills is no easy feat, even in Jane Austen's time, Lansdown was considered quite the trek. While Bristol's Vale Street holds the title for England's steepest street, Bath's toughest climbs don't have a clear champion.

Indeed, you may have shared a school canteen, corridor or swimming pool with some of these famous faces. From fashion designers to singers and soap stars, our county has seen a host of talent pass through its schools. Some, like Glastonbury Festival founder Michael Eavis, even went on to make their fortunes here.

We've all heard the advice before, about recycle, reduce and reuse. But one Somerset town is certainly embracing that trend. I've been finding out how Midsomer Norton has become a hub for shops selling second-hand goods. Watch the full piece on ITVX - https://t.co/nNfCdd7yEE https://t.co/OL3FvrHpaA

Still on a high from a wonderful weekend in Birmingham, producing the Saturday bulletins for @ITVCentral. It was a whirlwind of wildfires, huge news from Jaguar Land Rover and the Deputy PM travelling up to talk about bins. Thanks to Wesley, Faith & Graham for making it a joy! https://t.co/HF5UfigbpO

Starting my day with a beautiful carol service from @MethodyBelfast's chapel choir on @BBCR4Sunday - sounding just as phenomenal as I remember them!🎄
