ELMHURST – Ian Miletic and Rolling Meadows zoned out Glenbard West in the opening round of the Jack Tosh Holiday Classic at York in Elmhurst. Miletic along with Jack Duffer, Lazar Lazarevic and Jaeden Warrener knocked down 9-of-15 shots in the first half from outside the arc as the Mustangs rolled to a 57-35 win over Glenbard West. Rolling Meadows (10-1) will meet St. Laurence in the second round of the tournament at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the South gym at York.

MORRISON – A longtime felon who was charged in five separate felony cases this year and one last year pleaded guilty in four of them and was sentenced to four years in prison. Erik. W. Dunaven, 47, of Sterling, pleaded guilty Wednesday, Dec. 20, in Whiteside County Court to aggravated DUI with no valid driver’s license, two counts of burglary, and one of theft.

The Westmont Park District will host its annual Winter Beer Fest Feb 17 at Ty Warner Park in Westmont. Last year’s event featured numerous craft beer selections from more than 20 area breweries. The event will feature heated and lighted tents, campfires, outdoor seating and food trucks. A Florida man has been charged with murdering his half-brother on Christmas Day in unincorporated DuPage County near Naperville. David Gray, an 18-year history teacher, at Logan Junior High School in Princeton was teaching a chapter on the American Revolution, when his wife Jessica brought up an idea to spice up the lesson. His wife, Jessica, is the curator at the Bureau County Historical Campus. Gray said supper time may last for hours as the two “history nerds” discuss their day.
