A Cook County man accused of threatening a woman and hijacking a vehicle from a Villa Park Taco Bell in April will remain in jail until at least his next court appearance, prosecutors said. Demitrious Green, 33, of the 600 Block of North Humphrey Avenue, Oak Park, is charged with one count of vehicular hijacking, according to a DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office news release. A motion to detain Green was granted Monday in First Appearance Count.

One of two Chicago men accused of robbing an Addison gas station at gunpoint was sentenced Wednesday to 25 years in prison, prosecutors said. On March 13, Willie Carter, 25, of the 8300 block of South Aberdeen Street, entered a blind plea of guilty to one count of armed robbery with a firearm, according to a DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office news release.

When Downers Grove residents approach the podium to address commissioners at Village Council meetings, they don’t typically do so to strongly chastise their elected officials. But that’s what happened Tuesday night when a handful of residents used the public comment portion of the meeting to call out commissioners for their behavior at the May 20 council meeting. At that meeting, commissioners voted 4-3 to reject Mayor Bob Barnett’s nomination of Commissioner Martin Tully as mayor pro tem.

There are days like this one that are just tough to get through.

David Byrne asks in the great song Once In a Lifetime, "Well, how did I get here?" It's a question I'm asking myself with no answer immediately at hand....just disappointment seasoned with a pinch of sadness.
