And more than £100,000 from LEZ fines could also be spent on bringing some more colour to the Granite Mile with new flower baskets and bee-friendly bus shelters. In the last year, the local authority has bagged a whopping £3.3 million from dishing out bus lane and LEZ fines.

    Aberdeen FC and the council have been locked in a stalemate for years now over the Dons’ new stadium at the beach. A new Pittodrie at the seafront could cost up to £80 million – with seemingly neither side wanting to blink first when it comes to progressing the plans. Lib Dem councillor Martin Greig recently cast doubt over the proposals, saying they were “visionary” and “only an idea”.

    Wetherspoon bosses have confirmed plans for a rooftop terrace expansion at their Justice Mill bar in Aberdeen have been scrapped. The pub giants lodged proposals which would have seen a new bar on the first floor, with dozens of seats, along with almost 40 tables on the rooftop terrace. Aberdeen City Council planning chiefs gave Spoons the green light all the way back in September 2022 – but it has now emerged that the plans have been abandoned.
