Time at home, travel and the Zeppos Tower sum up the winter season for our Photography Section staffers. Mar 5, 2025 From the break between semesters to a January snow day back on campus and everything in between, saying hello to spring is as bittersweet as the goodbye to winter. This winter break, I traveled to Japan with my family. I spent several days in Kyoto visiting temples and shrines. Luckily, it was not peak tourism season. The city was beautiful and quiet, waiting for its first snow.

Vanderbilt alumnus Theo Kandel (B.A. ‘19) and Texas-based band Briscoe took the stage for their first joint show at 3rd & Lindsley on Feb. 20. 2 minutes ago When I learned that Theo Kandel (B.A. ‘19) was opening for Briscoe at 3rd & Lindsley on Feb. 20, I was thrilled. My favorite concerts are always the ones at the coziest, most intimate venues — by far the best ways to truly interact with up-and-coming artists. For Kandel, the concert acted as a homecoming of sorts.

It was an experience of many firsts for me: my first time renting a car without my parents, my first fall break trip and my first time seeing a national park in the fall.
