    The owner of a family-run vintage store that has locations throughout the Lower Mainland is pleading for support following a recent theft. Tricia Hill, the owner of Stoxx Thrift and Vintage, said the small business is struggling to cope with regular shoplifting at all three of the store’s locations. On Wednesday, Hill said, a man entered the store in Burnaby’s Metrotown mall, only to return shortly after.

    The B.C. government says it intended to announce the appointment of a consultant on Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, and regrets it didn’t do so earlier. Michael Bryant, the former CEO of Legal Aid B.C., signed a six-month contract with the province at a cost of $150,000, with an allowance of up to $25,000 in expenses. That contract runs from February to August.

    B.C. Premier David Eby is weighing in on a Vancouver mother’s challenges getting answers after her neurodivergent son told her his clothes were changed by an adult in a school basement. Jasmine Barahona’s six-year-old son came home from χpey̓ Elementary in East Vancouver school last Wednesday wearing a brand-new outfit, including new underwear. Barahona said she never received a phone call from the school to inform her of the clothing change. That night, she asked her son what happened.
