On Wednesday, officials confirmed their lioness Pely passed away at 24 years old. “We have been doing quality of life evaluations daily because of her age and it finally came time to say goodbye,” the nonprofit’s social media read. MERCED COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – CHP reported low visibility resulted in a bicyclist being hit and killed in an unlit area just outside of Merced Tuesday evening. According to the California Highway Patrol, just after 9:30 p.m., they responded to Highway Belcher Avenue west of Highway 59 after receiving reports of a white pick-up truck that hit a bicyclist and fled the scene. The victim was believed to have sustained fatal injuries.
