Investigators are searching for multiple shooters who fired into a crowd of hundreds — injuring three — at a local park during a party last weekend at UC Davis’ Picnic Day, the Davis Police Department said Thursday. Two teenagers and a 24-year-old person suffered what police described as “non-life threatening” wounds Saturday after gunfire broke out at Community Park during UC Davis’ flagship celebration. Picnic Day brings about 70,000 people annually to the city.

A motorcyclist died Saturday after a solo crash in El Dorado County, authorities said Wednesday. Officers went about 2:20 a.m. to the 2900 block of Cold Springs Road in Placerville for reports of a crash, according to a news release from the Placerville Police Department. A motorcyclist died at the scene after authorities rendered medical aid, police said. He has been identified as Shawn Martin, 42, police said. The news release did not provide information about the cause of the crash.

The Placer County Sheriff’s Office identified the skeletal remains of a woman found dead in a rural area 25 years ago, the agency said Wednesday. Zania Lynette Williams was 34 years old when she disappeared from her Sacramento home around Christmas in 2000. Her remains were found near Driver’s Flat Road in Foresthill, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release. Her cause of death is undetermined, said Elise Soviar, a spokesperson with the Sheriff’s Office.
