WAPAKONETA — A Cridersville man is charged in Auglaize County Common Pleas Court with rape and other related crimes. Charles Kaman, 40, was taken into custody on Monday and charged with two counts of first-degree felony rape, a third-degree felony charge of sexual battery and misdemeanor counts of aggravated menacing and endangering children. His bond was set in Auglaize County Municipal Court at $250,000. Kaman waived a preliminary hearing, and the case was transferred to common pleas court.

LIMA — The Holiday Inn at 803 Leonard Ave. in Lima is under new ownership after the property was purchased at an Allen County sheriff’s sale on April 30. Wilmington Trust, a trustee for the benefit of registered holders of Wells Fargo Commercial Mortgage Trust, purchased the motel for $7.4 million. That was the “highest and best” bid received for the purchase of the property and represented two-thirds of the appraised value of the parcel.

WAPAKONETA — A Putnam County teenager charged with vehicular manslaughter for her role in a fatal traffic accident in St. Marys earlier this year appeared Wednesday morning in Auglaize County Municipal Court. Madison Ricker, 19, of Fort Jennings, entered a plea of not guilty to the second-degree misdemeanor charge during her arraignment hearing before Judge Andrew Augsburger. The judge ordered an own-recognizance bond for Ricker, who said she has hired Lima attorney Zach Maisch to represent her.
