SAN JOSE, Calif. (KRON) — The City of San Jose’s largest encampment of unhoused people will be swept. That’s according to a vote by City Council Tuesday evening. The sweep of hundreds of people will happen this summer, making way for the city to undertake a massive reconstruction project of the surrounding area known as Columbus Park. SAN JOSE, Calif. (KRON) — In just a couple of hours, union workers with the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) will officially be on their third week of being on strike. All light rail lines and bus routes are grounded as employees strike over several issues they have with the VTA, including wanting higher wages. On Sunday, the VTA announced it is presenting the union with a new offer.

(KRON) — The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) said on Saturday that it has asked California Governor Gavin Newsom for an “intervention and fact-finding investigation” to help end the VTA strike as it hits its sixth day and enters its first weekend. The strike is over wage disputes. The Amalgamated Transit Union Local 265 (ATU) wants employees seeing a 19 percent pay raise over three years while the VTA is offering a 9 percent raise.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KRON) — Homeowners in the South and the East Bay are saying the same two women tried to break into their homes, possibly because of their ethnicity. The homeowners reached out to KRON4 after seeing our story from Friday when a San Jose couple says they lost out on $16,000 worth of jewelry. KRON4 reported the story on March 7. On that day, this family down the street says the exact same women ransacked their home.
