The No. 9 Tigers open up their tournament run with No. 8 Mississippi State on Wednesday, and former LSU pitcher Raelin Chaffin could start in the circle for the Bulldogs. Chaffin, who spent three seasons at LSU, is 21-8 with a 2.53 ERA in 39 appearances so far this season at Mississippi State.

Doyle softball holds on to beat Jena, claims first state title sine 2018SULPHUR - The Doyle softball team is once again a state champion. The Tigers edged Jena, 4-3, in the Division III Non-Select state championship game Sunday at the North Frasch Softball Complex in Sulphur. Kylee Savant's three-RBI double in the top of the fifth gave Doyle a 4-2 lead. COLLEGE STATION - The LSU baseball team was four outs away from a series win over Texas A&M, but a Caden Sorrell three-run home run put the Aggies ahead for good. The Tigers were up 4-2 in the bottom of the eighth with two outs, but a Jace Laviolette infield single brought in the third Texas A&M run. Two hitters later, Sorrell hit the three-run blast off Zac Cowan to put the Aggies up 6-4. In the top of the ninth, LSU would go down in order and lose 6-4.

BATON ROUGE - Multiple Baton Rouge area high school baseball teams punched their tickets to the state semifinals. In Division III Select, No. 9 Dunham pulled off the upset over top seed Parkview Baptist, beating the Eagles 4-1 in a deciding Game 3 on Saturday. Dunham will play No. 4 Catholic of New Iberia in a best-of-three semifinal next week. On the other side of the bracket, University High had no trouble Calvary Baptist. The Cubs beat the Cavaliers 11-1 Saturday to earn a two-game sweep.

inSportsSource: WBRZBATON ROUGE - LSU pitcher Anthony Eyanson has had a handful of great performances so far this season, and Saturday was his best. Eyanson tossed a complete game in game two of a doubleheader against Texas A&M, striking out 14 Aggies en route to a 2-1 LSU win. Eyanson improves to 7-2 this season. The Tigers two runs came in the sixth inning. Ethan Frey hit an RBI double and then Josh Pearson put down a perfect safety squeeze bunt to bring in a run.
