Hundreds of transgender activists and allies rallied outside the Supreme Court on Dec. 4 as justices heard arguments in U.S. v. Skrmetti, a case challenging Tennessee’s law banning gender-affirming care for minors. The rally, titled “Freedom to Be Ourselves,” was hosted by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and Lambda Legal, two of the organizations that filed the case against the state of Tennessee, and its Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti.

After nearly five years of legal and zoning battles, Call Your Mother, the popular “Jew-ish” deli on the corner of 34th and O, will keep baking. In a Nov. 13 meeting, the D.C. Board of Zoning Adjustment (BZA) voted in a 4-1 decision to grant Call Your Mother the zoning conditions needed to continue operating in its Georgetown location.

Co-founders of the Satanic Temple Lucien Greaves and Malcolm Jerry spoke about their mission and activism on Oct. 16 in the HFSC Idol Social Room. The event was met with controversy, but was intended to bring a diverse group of voices to campus and spark conversation, according to Georgetown University Lecture Fund organizers.

Jaden Cobb (CAS ’25) and Sanaa Mehta (SFS ’25) have been elected as GUSA Executive president and vice president following a vote by the undergraduate student body. The election was conducted between Oct. 19 and Oct. 20, with the GUSA Election Commission announcing the results on Twitter at 9:04 p.m. on Oct 20. The Senate certified the results in a meeting on Sunday, Oct. 22. This election is the second time this month in which students have voted for their next GUSA executives. On Oct.

It is the time of year for Hoyas to exercise their voting rights as another cycle of GUSA elections approaches. This year, three candidates have entered the bid for GUSA’s Executive. Polls for the GUSA Executive elections open on CampusGroups on Thursday, Oct. 5, at 10 p.m. and close on Saturday, Oct. 7, at 10 p.m. Similar to years prior, the ballot will use a ranked-choice voting system that allows students to rank their candidate preferences.
