Leisure Wild is not exactly the first word that students would use to describe Georgetown. More likely than not, it does not even crack the top 10 descriptors (ambitious, academic, and elitist are perhaps some of the terms that make up this hypothetical list). However, to Georgetown alumna Lana Nauphal (CAS ’19), the term “wild” defined life and love on campus.

It is 9 p.m. on a Wednesday in the middle of March and creative director Lucy Zhang (COL ’26) is untangling the significance of a project that demanded much of her time since the beginning of the school year. Students, like Zhang, took time away from schoolwork to write and learn a two-act script and original music. They spent midterms season in the basement rehearsal rooms of Davis Performing Arts Center (DPAC) as well as countless hours practicing and perfecting songs, scenes, and choreography.

Hosted by the Folger Shakespeare Library, The Reading Room Festival offered a variety of talks and events over the course of four days, with each day headlined by a new show.
