KALISPELL — The Flathead Valley Parkinson’s Support Group is hosting a Walk to End Parkinson’s Disease at Kalispell’s Lawrence Park on Saturday, May 10, from 10 a.m. to noon. The walk aims to raise awareness about Parkinson’s disease affecting individuals and families across Northwest Montana. The Flathead Valley Parkinson’s Support Group connects individuals with Parkinson’s to other members of their community through a monthly support group and events.

BIGFORK — The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) in Bigfork is hosting suicide awareness and prevention training on Friday, May 9. The free training is open to the public and aims to equip attendees with the knowledge and tools to recognize suicide warning signs. Vietnam War Veteran and Bigfork resident Michael Stone will host the training. Stone said the event is open to anyone in the Flathead, not just veterans.

HUNGRY HORSE — The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office and the Northwest Regional SWAT Team carried out a high-risk search warrant in Hungry Horse on Tuesday night. That warrant led to the arrest of Michael Downing, the suspected leader of an organized burglary ring targeting homes in the Flathead for months.

KALISPELL — Twenty dogs that were found living in unsanitary conditions and seized from a property in Coram back in March are now available for adoption. The dogs have been cleared for adoption after thorough Vet checks, vaccinations and microchips.
