SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. — If you drive along Business 80 through the Arden-Arcade area in Sacramento, your commute could look a little different tomorrow. On Friday, you may notice a new shift for southbound traffic starting near Exposition Boulevard. It’s all part of the American River Bridge Rehabilitation Project. Sergio Ochoa Sánchez with Caltrans says the transition should be smooth as you drive through this area.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Voters have chosen a name for the Sacramento Zoo's new baby Masai giraffe — meet Sumi!  Sumi was born March 1 and voting helped raise money for the giraffe's new shade structure. Construction on that started this week. According to the zoo, Sumi's name comes from the 'sumac' plant, which was her mom's favorite snack while she was pregnant. Jocelyn Katzakian is an animal care supervisor at the Sacramento Zoo.

Westbound 50/Southbound 99 connector closure: Sacramento The connector from westbound Highway 50 to southbound Highway 99 will be closed from 10 p.m. on Friday, March 28, until 5 a.m. Monday, March 31. SACRAMENTO, Calif. — This weekend, a connector closure along Highway 50 will impact traffic for 55 hours. It will close the connector from westbound Highway 50 to southbound Highway 99 from 10 p.m. Friday, March 21, until Monday, March 24. According to Caltrans, crews will be working on striping and pavement while it's closed. Caltrans says those driving along southbound Highway 99 should use southbound I-5 as an alternate route. SACRAMENTO, Calif. — This year marks 20 years of Shamrock'n. The 5k, 10k and kids leprechaun dash are happening Saturday with the half-marathon Sunday. Sean Garbutt is the marketing director for Fleet Feet in Sacramento, Elk Grove and Davis. He says there will be cheer zones, music, bands and a huge party at the finish line. "This is year number 20 for Shamrock'n, so we're really excited to celebrate that anniversary," Garbutt said.
