I'm usually the LAST person to opt in to a 'true crime' story, but the way Taffy connects an awful, newsmaking event with her own trauma kept me riveted. Brilliant writing... and the best thing I've read in a while.

I wrote about the real-life 1974 kidnapping of Jack Teich — the one that inspired my new novel, Long Island Compromise — and the way that trauma holds on. It changes, and, if you're lucky, it morphs. But in my experience, it never really goes away. https://t.co/B4GcjJ7YWL

Progress report: 1012 words Wednesday. 1025 words Thursday. 1078 words today! THE LAST DAY! That's 14 days in a row. I'm officially a first-time grad of #1000WordsOfSummer. Thanks for cheering us along, @JamiAttenberg! I'm happily knee deep in a new #middlegrade novel! #kidlit https://t.co/t9GQ8h6Mx5

1169 words! Including lots of overwritten dialogue I'm looking forward to pruning. Bye-bye day 11. Three more to go. #1000WordsOfSummer #kidlit #middlegrade https://t.co/8yEGoXdN4V
