JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – JWB Property Management announced Thursday it reached a settlement in a lawsuit that claimed the company’s screening algorithms discriminated against rental applicants who are Black. The lawsuit was filed against JWB Property Management and JWB Real Estate Capital by Jacksonville Area Legal Aid (JALA) in March of 2023 on behalf of four people who applied to rent homes from the company.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The owner of ASAP Towing turned himself into the Police Memorial Building Wednesday and was charged with grand theft and organized fraud, according to his arrest report. A JSO investigation revealed that Vicente Serrano, who goes by Vince, “defrauded the State of Florida the approximate amount of $193,958,54″ from 2020 to 2024, his arrest report states. ASAP Towing has been surrounded by controversy this past year over allegations of the company “preying” on residents.

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – The trial of a Clay County contractor accused of killing a client in 2019 resumes Monday morning. Corey Binderim, 49, has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in the death of Susan Mauldin. The state is seeking the death penalty. Mauldin was reported missing from her Fleming Island home in October 2019. Her remains were found three months later at a landfill in Folkston, Georgia. Investigators said Binderim was the last person to see her alive.
