    JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – With REAL ID requirements now in effect for those flying within the United States, one local woman is sharing the trouble she’s been through over the last month trying to get her ID updated. Susan Dameron, 70, is one of the 1% of Floridians who do not yet have a REAL ID, a federally compliant state-issued license or identification card that Homeland Security says is a more secure form of identification. But it’s not for lack of trying in Dameron’s case.

    JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – REAL ID requirements for those flying within the United States begin Wednesday after nearly 20 years of delays. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem on Tuesday assured people who don’t yet have a REAL ID but need to take a domestic flight Wednesday that they will be able to fly after clearing additional identity checks. REAL ID is a federally compliant state-issued license or identification card that Homeland Security says is a more secure form of identification.

    JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A thriving Jacksonville photographer hosted a free workshop on Saturday for teenagers at his studio on the Southside. Blue Franswa said he wants to give aspiring photographers a source or opportunity to work with an industry professional. He gave them insight into the industry and the basics of how to use a camera. He even offered some of them a job to work with him in the future. Franswa even paid all of them for the three hours they spent there.

    TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida lawmakers are still nowhere close to agreeing on a budget for the next fiscal year. That means the legislative session that was supposed to wrap up Friday will not end on time. Passing a balanced budget is the only thing they are required by law to do during the 60-day legislative session. There have been backroom negotiations for the last few weeks to figure out how the state should spend money next year.
