WACO, Texas — The Waco Police Department says it has seen an increase in telecommunication cable thefts in the area recently. According to Waco PD, the thefts typically occur in the late hours of the night or very early hours of the morning. The department says witnesses may think the thieves are construction crews working on the lines, but said crews would not be working odd hours of the night unless a direct outage is occurring.

BELTON, Texas — Belton ISD is giving students "a seat at the table" and a voice as the district plans out its school menus. As part of a districtwide initiative led by the School Nutrition Department, BISD said students were invited to participate in taste tests and menu planning sessions to help shape what meals are served on campuses. "Students are the most important customers in the cafeteria," the district said in a release.

KILLEEN, Texas — The Killeen Fire Department continues to mourn the loss of one of their own, Captain Marvin Taylor III. Taylor was killed in a crash on Sunday, May 11 when he was rear-ended by a speeding vehicle, the City stated. According to the City, Taylor left an Austin hospital at 1:05 a.m. after the birth of his fifth child, and was going to pick up his other children to bring them back to the hospital to meet their new sibling when his vehicle was hit from behind.

BELTON, Texas — Belton Independent School District has announced the appointments of new principals to two of the district's elementary schools, High Point and Lakewood Elementary. BISD announced that Courtney Brewer will serve as principal at High Point Elementary, while Holly Griffith will lead Lakewood Elementary.
