    FORT HOOD, Texas — Fort Hood's Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center (CRDAMC) has a new leader at the helm. On Wednesday, June 18, Col. Mark L. Jacques assumed command from Col. Garrick L. Cramer during a formal change of command ceremony held in the hospital atrium, according to the Fort Hood Media Center. Brig. Gen. Yolonda “YR” Summons, commander of Medical Readiness Command, West and Defense Health Network West, reportedly served as the reviewing officer and led the ceremony.

    BELTON, Texas — The Belton Chamber of Commerce and Camp Tahuaya celebrated the next chapter of the campground this week with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Camp Tahuaya has served as a campground for scouting programs since 1932, but has now reopened to all members of the public, according to executive director of the Scouting America Longhorn Council, Wendy Shaw. The camp celebrated the change alongside the Belton Chamber of Commerce at the ceremony on Friday, June 20.

    MART, Texas — Mart Independent School District has named the lone finalist for the superintendent position, David Hayward. The district announced on Friday, June 20 that Hayward had been chosen as the lone finalist. According to Mart ISD, Hayward was selected after a "thorough review" of over 30 applicants, which were then narrowed down to eight by a hiring committee made up of school board members, faculty and community members.

    GROESBECK, Texas — One person was killed in a deadly crash near Groesbeck on Friday, June 20, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has announced. According to Texas DPS, Troopers responded to a crash on SH-164 near CR-396, west of Groesbeck, around 2:50 a.m. on June 20. DPS said a preliminary investigation suggests that a Chevrolet Silverado traveling east drove onto the wrong side of the roadway and crashed into a truck tractor semi-trailer.
