KCEN-TV (Temple, TX)

KCEN-HD is the NBC affiliate that serves the communities of Temple, Waco, Killeen, and Bryan-College Station (DMA 89). We deliver top-notch programming to around 890,000 residents across 330,000 households in Central Texas. Since it first went on air in 1953, KCEN-HD has been under the ownership of the Frank Mayborn interests until it was acquired by the London Broadcasting Company in May 2009. In the early 1950s, while many stations were launching with limited power in large metropolitan areas, KCEN-HD chose to operate in smaller cities and rural regions. It boasts the highest tower in this part of the Southwest, with its studio and an 830-foot tower located in Eddy, Texas. Originally licensed to Temple, KCEN-HD was recognized as a Central Texas station, and the FCC later allowed it to identify as Temple-Waco. Its signal reaches approximately 32 counties, operating at a maximum power of 100 kwh on Channel 6 VHF. The tower stands 833 feet above ground, with a height of 1553 feet above the average terrain where the tower is situated at an elevation of 720 feet.
