    An arrest made of an alleged rioter in East Los Angeles Thursday morning sparked a backlash from residents toward law enforcement. FBI agents were sent to arrest Alejandro Theodoro Orellana for allegedly “distributing face shields to suspected rioters” earlier this week, U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli posted on X, along with video of a man handing out gear to protesters from the back of a pickup truck.

    Protests against immigration raids stretched into the night in Orange County with demonstrators taking to the streets of Santa Ana for the second straight day. One female protester said it was her first time doing so because she’s a child of immigrants and she felt the need to be there for those who can’t. “I see the fear in my parents’ eyes. I see the fear every day coming out here in Santa Ana,” she told KTLA 5. “This is my hometown. This is all I know.

    The Palisades Village, a luxury open-air shopping center in Pacific Palisades, is slated to reopen in mid-2026, marking another step forward in the community’s recovery from the Palisades Fire. The announcement was made on Wednesday by billionaire developer Rick Caruso, owner of the shopping center. The approximately 3-acre, 125,000-square-foot shopping center, which houses 42 businesses and services, has been closed since January’s wildfire leveled thousands of homes and businesses.
