ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - Midway Village Museum transformed into the early 1900s Saturday for a World War I reenactment. The exhibit depicted various elements of the war, including the women’s suffrage movement, a mock trench system in the battlefield and mock battles in the woods. The event started Saturday and will go on throughout the weekend. The exhibit will be open from 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $15 for adults, $13 for children.

FREEPORT, Ill. (WIFR) - VOICES of Stephenson County opens its annual Book Nook Spring Half Price Sale Thursday. The sale runs April 3-12, with all proceeds going toward support services for survivors of domestic and sexual violence. The Book Nook, located in Lincoln Mall, 1265 W. Galena Ave., Freeport, offers a large variety of donated books, DVDs, records and puzzles. The sale continues a legacy of charity book sales that began in 1969 at the Freeport YWCA.
