The Ragin’ Cajuns fell 6-1 to Coastal Carolina in the Sun Belt Championship semifinals on Friday, ending their season and closing the book on Alyson Habetz’s first year as head coach. CCU’s bats came alive in the third and fourth innings, building a lead that Louisiana couldn’t overcome. Keirstin Roose broke the scoreless tie in the third with an RBI single to left, giving the Chanticleers a 1-0 lead.

TROY, Ala. — Louisiana softball is two wins away from a Sun Belt Conference title after a dramatic 2-1 walk-off victory over Appalachian State on Thursday morning. Freshman pitcher Mallory Wheeler continued her breakout season by starting in the circle for the Ragin’ Cajuns. Coming off a no-hitter last week and a Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week honor, Wheeler struck out six and held the Mountaineers scoreless through six innings in a complete game effort.

LAFAYETTE — It's do-or-die time for Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns softball. In order to secure a bid to an NCAA Regional, UL must win the Sun Belt Conference Tournament — and that means reeling off three straight victories this weekend. The journey begins Thursday morning with a single-elimination showdown against Appalachian State. Louisiana enters the tournament on a hot streak, having won nine of its last 10 conference games to earn the No. 3 seed.

LAFAYETTE — A nearly two-hour weather delay and a ruling that deemed the course unplayable couldn’t stop Ascension Episcopal from adding another title to its storied legacy. The Blue Gators entered Tuesday in the lead at the Division III state golf tournament, needing a strong showing to claim their seventh consecutive championship. But Mother Nature had other plans. After storms rolled in, the course was officially ruled unplayable and scores were counted through 27 holes instead of the full 36.

Louisiana wrapped up its spring football schedule with a spirited Vermilion and White game Saturday, marking a key milestone in head coach Michael Desormeaux’s offseason plan. The Vermilion squad came out on top, 21-17, after an hour-and-a-half scrimmage that showcased depth, competition and emerging chemistry across the roster. More important than the final score, Desormeaux said, is the foundation his team laid heading into summer workouts. “Everything builds off of the next,” Desormeaux said.
