    An Irishman is recovering in an Italian hospital after nearly drowning while proposing to his girlfriend. Reports from Italy suggest that the 41-year-old was on one knee at a marina in the north-east of the country when he slipped and fell into the water. The unusual incident took place in Trieste, a coastal city about 90 minutes west of Venice. The Italian Coastguard said the exact location was Venice Wharf, part of the popular Marina San Giusto, at around 11pm on Sunday, December 29.

    King Charles has been diagnosed with cancer. First Minister Mark Drakeford has sent best wishes to King Charles after he was diagnosed with cancer. It is not prostate cancer, but was found during treatment for an enlarged prostate. The type of cancer was not revealed, but a Palace statement said the King began "regular treatments" on Monday. First Minister Mark Drakeford said: "I'm saddened to hear the news that HM King Charles III is facing further health challenges.

Api Ratuniyarawa, 37, admitted two counts of assault by penetration and one of sexual assault at Revolution between 31 October and 2 November 2023. He was sentenced to two years and 10 months at Cardiff Crown Court on Tuesday.

    The Chairman of one of Northern Ireland's leading hospitality groups has recalled how a chance encounter aged 12 led him to owning his first hotel. Eugene McKeever MBE, Chair of the McKeever Hotel Group was speaking as the group marked their 30th anniversary of taking ownership of Corrs Corner and announced an investment of £320,000 in the venue over the next year. Speaking to Belfast Live, Eugene recalled his love for the venue which launched his hospitality portfolio.
