GEELONG Sports Museum has reached its first birthday, and invited some of the Geelong United women’s basketball team and students from St Robert’s Primary School to help mark the occasion on Friday last week. St Robert’s Primary School was the lucky winner of a competition between local schools, which were asked why they would like to join the celebrations. On the day, there was some fierce competition between the athletes and students on the interactive museum experiences.

THE Nourish series of community workshops run by Farm My School (FMS) has been celebrated with a final “Nourish Nosh Long Table” dining experience to mark the end of the calendar of events funded by a grant from Geelong Community Foundation. Almost 100 guests shared a communal long table dinner and sunset tour of the farm at Bellarine Secondary College (BSC) in celebration of the Nourish Workshop series, and the achievements of Farm My School.

KARDINIA International College in Geelong has won the Container Deposit Scheme Vic (CDS Vic) Excellence Award (Secondary) at this year’s ResourceSmart Schools Awards. Earthcore, the school’s student-led sustainability committee, led efforts to reduce waste at the school and raise funds to reinvest in sustainability projects. Students proved their leadership skills through their demonstrations of initiatives.

THE City of Greater Geelong is inviting residents to attend one of two community forums on Tuesday this week to learn more about the planning of roadworks in Armstrong Creek and the city’s role in managing road closures. The city says the forum will provide insight into the collaborative planning involved in co-ordinating traffic impacts between the city, Major Road Projects Victoria, and the Department of Transport and Planning.
