The Whyalla steelworks' blast furnace will be shut down for 36 hours to undergo "urgent" maintenance work as administrators warn the plant is in a "state of disrepair" and they are "extremely concerned" for the health and wellbeing of local workers. The blast furnace will begin a 36-hour shutdown on Wednesday, according to Energy and Mining Minister Tom Koutsantonis, bringing a temporary halt to steel production in Whyalla.

Two men have been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of 25-year-old Ngor Bol in the Adelaide CBD in the early hours of Anzac Day in 2022. Thocrial Agoth, 24, who can be named for the first time, was charged with the murder alongside a 20-year-old man — who still cannot be named for legal reasons. Agoth was handed a non-parole period of 24 years and the 20-year-old was handed a non-parole period of 26 years.
