For those suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder,the drug MDMA might ease the pain. Last year, a team of Brown University researchers launched a new ongoing study testing MDMA, known as ecstasy or molly, and talk therapy as a treatment for PTSD and alcohol use disorder in military veterans. It was the first study of its kind at Brown to research MDMA-assisted therapy as well as its effectiveness for dual disorders.

The restaurant preserved some of the original Old Canteen decor in its back bar nostalgia room, while the main dining room has a new look and feel. I got a sneak peek at the new Wally’s Providence inside the former Joe Marzilli’s Old Canteen on Federal Hill. I went in with an open mind, but a melancholic perspective because I have a lot of family memories that were made there.

If it sounds like an oxymoron, it is. At Club Frills, food and cocktails will be served with its namesake – colorful, frilly toothpicks – from a dream team of local hospitality veterans. The new bar and restaurant – opening sometime this summer from the co-owners of Pizza Marvin, chef Robert Andreozzi and renowned bartender Jesse Hedberg – will channel a nostalgia-laced, dive bar-like atmosphere but with complex cocktails and cheffed-up bar food.

The iconic Rhode Island seafood restaurant suffered a catastrophic fire yesterday, and several regulars have started the Matunuck Oyster Bar Recovery Fund to help displaced employees. Yesterday was a tough day. Many of us experienced the loss and devastation that felt like losing a good friend. Matunuck Oyster Bar is a place where memories were made and where summer lived on indefinitely, no matter the season.
