The Met Office is warning of strong winds and rain for many across Sussex on Saturday (August 5). A yellow weather warning is in place across the day of strong winds, with parts of the Sussex coastline affected from Chichester across to Eastbourne. The warning comes in the wake of Storm Antoni, which is expected to bring 'unseasonably windy weather', with the warning in place from 8am tomorrow morning through to 8pm. The RAC is also issuing a warning to drivers ahead of the storm's arrival.

A man who preyed on a victim of romance fraud from Worthing while pretending to be part of a private investigation firm has been handed a suspended prison sentence. Ricky (also known as Ravinder) Gill, 40, of Saville Road, Chadwell Heath, was sentenced to a total of eight months imprisonment suspended for 18 months for fraud by false representation, when he appeared at Lewes Crown Court on 27 July.

A man's due to appear before Lewes Crown Court charged with two robberies and possession of an imitation firearm in Brighton. Tyler Corteggio, 26, of Arnold Street in Brighton, is accused of two counts of robbery and two counts of possessing an imitation firearm with intent following multiple reports to police. Officers said they were first alerted to a report of an intruder inside an address at Halland Road, Brighton, on July 4, where an electric bicycle was taken.

A man who carried out a series of burglaries, thefts and criminal damage in Brighton and Hove, and lead police on a dangerous car chase along the A23, has been jailed for seven and a half years. Police said they were first alerted to the activities of 33-year-old Daniel Laverty on January 9, when officers received a report of a car having been stolen from Hove following a burglary.

A 17-year-old cyclist is in hospital in a critical condition following a collision with a black BMW car in Bognor last night (August 1). Police are appealing for witnesses to the seriously collision between the bicycle and vehicle, which took place on the A29 Shripney Road at around 10.30pm. Officer said the teenager, who is local to Bognor, was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

A motorcyclist has been remanded in custody to be sentenced after admitting to seriously injuring a Sussex police officer by dangerous driving in Eastbourne, which left the victim needing surgery. Alfie Chandler, 20, unemployed, of Burlington Close, Feltham, London, admitted causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving without valid insurance, and driving while disqualified at Brighton Magistrates' Court yesterday (August 1).

Wealden District Council is reminding those who produce, carry and dispose of waste to ensure they do so responsibly and legally following the successful prosecution by the council of the two waste carriers at Hastings Magistrates Court.
