A serious crash has closed an A-road on the outskirts of Bristol. It happened on the A46, near Old Sodbury, this afternoon. The road is closed between the junction with the B4040/Badminton Road and France Lane in Dunkirk. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek other routes. Traffic monitoring site Inrix reports: "A46 in both directions closed, slow traffic due to accident from A432 Badminton Road (Old Sodbury) to France Lane (Dunkirk)." Police have been contacted for more information.

Man dies after falling from A303 bridge

A man has died after he fell from a bridge on the A303. It happened at the Mere bypass, about seven miles east of Wincanton, at 11pm last night, Monday, April 14. The pedestrian, a 39-year-old man, fell from a bridge which runs above the major A-road near the Somerset-Wiltshire border. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The A303 westbound was closed for around 14 hours following the death for investigation work to take place. Diversions were put in place during the lengthy closure.
