City of Erie Code Enforcement is set to begin targeted property inspections throughout the city. Starting April 17, zoning officers will begin conducting targeted inspections in eight zones throughout the city. Zoning officers will focus on one zone at a time, going street by street to inspect each property. Property owners with excessive junk and debris in their yards will receive a courtesy notice, which gives them two weeks to address the issue.

An ordinance aimed at banning ghost guns in the City of Erie has hit a major roadblock. In a 3-3 vote, Erie City Council failed to pass an ordinance prohibiting ghost guns in the city. Ghost guns are homemade firearms that are unregistered and untraceable. The firearms lack serial numbers and can be purchased without a background check. Council members in favor of the ordinance say it's meant to reduce gun violence in the city.

The Erie-Western PA Port Authority is officially bringing back its water taxi service. On Wednesday, the organization announced that it secured a five-year contract with the Texas-based company JettyLight, to operate the water taxi service. The Port Authority began offering the service back in 2000, to help people travel from the city of Erie to Presque Isle. The service has been on hiatus since 2019, due to COVID and after the port authority had trouble finding a captain.
