WINCHESTER, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — Right on the river sits Hall’s on the River. It’s a restaurant aptly named for its location and a popular spot for many people in Central Kentucky. Owner Karl Crase says they’re no stranger to floods. “Part of what you have to do when you’re on the river, is work with the river,” he said. This time around, looked a little different than past floods.

FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — President Donald Trump has signed four executive orders aimed at limiting restrictions on coal mining production. Kentucky Senate President Robert Stivers says this will benefit Kentucky’s economy. “There will be pools of money. Instead of going to the renewables, [it] will be going to the carbon-based, coal-fired generating plants to help upgrade them, make them more efficient, more environmentally friendly,” he said.

FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — Hundreds of people are working all hours of the day at Buffalo Trace Distillery to clean mud-filled buildings and prepare for production to ramp back up. Master distiller Harlen Wheatley announcing that they have resumed shipping today and expect to resume bottling tomorrow. “Our distribution and main bottling center did not take on flood waters and, thus, distribution began today,” he said.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — Around 2,800 United States servicemembers across the world are receiving a special package this Easter. This is part of Military Missions Operation SEND. Every Indpendence Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter, this nonprofit organizations sends packages to give overseas servicemembers what they call a taste of home. Mark Roland with Military Missions says for the past 20 years, the organization has sent these packages.

(ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — At 231 East Main Street in Frankfort, victims of the recent floods can walk in and find hallways lined with shoes, rooms full of clothes and a lower floor dedicated to cleaning supplies, toys and hygiene products. As the recovery process begins, a group of organizations is standing by ready to help families get back on their feet.
