I didn’t know a great deal about Nottingham, as it seems to be one of those cities that is a little bit under the radar. Robin Hood, Russell Crowe who played the legendary figure in a 2010 movie and Brian Clough the legendary boss at Nottingham Forrest were the only associations made before we set off on our travels. We were staying at the lovely four-star Lace Market Hotel, a gem of a Georgian townhouse in the heart of the quarter-mile historic quarter for which it is named.

Where the humans get steeped in history and Peppa gets sausages!The day started with a trip to the stunning Raby Castle, a fantastic medieval Game of Thrones-esque estate that is still in private ownership. The humans were bowled over by its sheer scale and loved its history. One claim to fame is that it was the scene of an uprising where local landowners got together and attempted to overthrow the Protestant Queen Elizabeth I.
