    SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Business owners in west Springfield are in a state of limbo as they wait for a start date on a major construction project in the area. In early March work to tear down and replace the bridge on W. Sunshine between Scenic Drive and Kansas Expressway was supposed to begin but was delayed. Now, over two months later, no official start date has been announced. Ozarks First has spoken with multiple businesses in that area over the months.

    SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Starting today a new crosswalk is operational in north Springfield. Just west of the Kearney Street and Robberson Avenue a “HAWK signal” has been installed. This is all part of an effort to improve safety and traffic operations on Kearney Street. A HAWK signal is a type of traffic signal that only operates when a pedestrian hits the crossing button. HAWK signal is short for high intensity activated crosswalk.

    SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Residents of a Springfield Loft telling Ozarks First over a $100,000 worth of damage was done to their vehicles after the building’s parking lot flooded during this weekend’s storms. One resident says he went to leave his loft and found his car was completely submerged. “It’s a total loss. So, I’m fortunate I have insurance, I got coverage. My wife’s car is completely totaled. We don’t have total full coverage for it, only liability.

    OZARK, Mo. — Drivers in Ozark are finding themselves with detours to take after a bridge closed because of flood damage. The Riverside Bridge goes over the Finley River north of downtown Ozark. Over the weekend it saw floodwaters high enough to cover the Riverside Road, causing damage to it. One man who lives just south of the bridge tells Ozarks First the closure will make trips to Springfield longer for not just him but anyone in his neighborhood.

    OZARK, Mo. – Flood levels continue to stay high over the holiday weekend in Ozark. The Finley River is at the center of the high waters. One man lives just yards away from the Finley River and tells Ozarks First he spent the day removing water from his home. “That ended up putting 39 inches of water in the back of our house, 32 and a half inches in our garage. So, we basically lost everything below the waist and the first level and all of our garage,” says Michael Bloom.
