SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — History is made as the Catholic Church gets its first American born pope. Earlier today, white smoke billowed from the Sistine Chapel and shortly after that Robert Prevost was named Pope Leo XIV. Now we are hearing from the local Catholic community about the significance of a new pope. Father Patrick at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church says just from what he’s seen today he believes that Pope Leo XIV will be a successful pope.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Just over one week ago, a powerful storm hit Springfield, knocking out power to 50,000 people around this city. Earlier this week, City Utilities posted to Facebook saying that multiple months’ worth of supplies were used for repairs in just a few days. On that Facebook post, City Utilities explained that nearly 100 utility poles and dozens of transformers haven replaced since the storm and that number is expected to go up.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — It’s been a busy day at the yard waste recycling center in southwest Springfield. It’s one of a few options for residents to haul debris that has fallen on their property. Today, Springfield public service organizations met at the Greene County Public Safety Center to update the public on recovery efforts after severe weather came through the area on Tuesday, April 29.
