OXFORD, N.C. — The going away service for a 17-month-old Person County child was held this week after the boy was found unresponsive in the county’s custody last month. Family, loved ones and supporters gathered at Betts and Son Funeral Home in Oxford Tuesday afternoon to lay Kemari Morgan to rest. Kemari’s mother, Briauna Morgan, received a heartbreaking phone call May 23 that her son died in child protective services custody.
