Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse football will travel to Atlanta on Aug. 30 to play Tennessee in the Aflac Kickoff for the 2025 season opener. It was announced Tuesday that the game will be televised on ABC with a noon kickoff time. The Aflac Kickoff will begin ABC’s Week 1 tripleheader that features three SEC vs ACC matchups. Following Syracuse’s game against Tennessee, Alabama will travel to Florida State while LSU travels to Clemson for the primetime matchup.

Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse’s Nov. 22 game at Notre Dame will have a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff time, Notre Dame announced Monday. Notre Dame is the first kickoff time that has been announced for Syracuse for the 2025 season. After a 10-win 2024, the Orange will play Notre Dame on NBC in the Fighting Irish’s normal television spot. Texas A&M, and rivals USC and Navy beat out the Orange for the primetime spots on Notre Dame’s home schedule.

Syracuse, N.Y. — Class of 2026 wide receiver Amare’ Gough has committed to Syracuse, he announced Saturday. Gough is listed as a four-star recruit out of Thomas Jefferson (Virginia). Syracuse assistant running backs coach Devin Redd recently completed a recruiting trip to Baltimore and DMV region, resulting in nearly 20 offers and Gough’s commitment. Syracuse gave Gough’s teammate, Class of 2027 linebacker and running back Reginald Weston, his first offer during the trip.

Syracuse, N.Y. — Former Syracuse fullback Keith “Thump” Belton was fired by the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks in an overhaul of their training staff, according to ESPN. The Mavericks were ravaged by injuries this season, most notably to Luka Doncic at Christmas, Anthony Davis in February and Kyrie Irving shortly after that. As a result, general manager Nico Harrison fired Belton and head trainer Dionne Calhoun.

Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse center Mark Petry will miss the 2025 season with a torn ACL, he announced Wednesday. Petry was Syracuse’s starting center coming out of spring practices following the transfer of David Wohlabaugh Jr. Now, he will undergo season-ending surgery for an ACL tear that was previously undetected for a year. “It was not an easy decision to make,” Petry said.
