Syracuse, N.Y. — Oronde Gadsden II spent his first two seasons at Syracuse classified as a wide receiver before making the change to tight end for his last two seasons. In his senior season, his only one under Jeff Nixon, Gadsden had 934 yards and seven touchdowns. In two 13-game seasons at two positions, Gadsden made first-team All-ACC twice, averaging 954.5 yards and 6.5 touchdowns over the two seasons. Syracuse figured out the wide receivers room when he left it.

However, the Orange has five running backs that offensive coordinator Jeff Nixon feels good about, and it may be up to a few of them to fill Allen’s shoes. Allen led the ACC with 20 total touchdowns last season thanks in large part to his 16 on the ground.

Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse received a commitment from 2026 quarterback Zaid Lott early Tuesday afternoon. He announced his commitment not long after decommitting from UNC. Lott, who plays at Providence Day (North Carolina), visited Syracuse during its first weekend of spring practices and received an offer on the spot. Now, he has decided to change which ACC school he will spend his college years with. “This choice was tough,” Lott said about his decommitment via an X post.

Syracuse, N.Y. — Rickie Collins transferred to Syracuse in December after Garrett Nussmeier announced his return to LSU. After his first practice as quarterback for the Orange, Collins said he knew from the start that Syracuse was the place for him. Collins spent two seasons in Baton Rouge, seeing action in four games and attempting just seven passes. Knowing he was ready to play in 2025, Collins entered the transfer portal and headed north for the winter.

Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse and Colorado are seeking approval by the NCAA to schedule joint practices in Boulder, concluding with a scrimmage against the Buffaloes next month, coach Fran Brown said after Friday’s practice. Colorado’s compliance office, along with Syracuse’s, have filed paperwork with the NCAA to get the scrimmage underway, a Syracuse spokesman said. “For us to be the first to do it at two historic schools would mean a lot,” Brown said following Syracuse’s first spring practice.
