GREEN RIVER — The 4A West Regional Soccer Tournament begins Thursday in Green River and for both the Wolves and Tigers, it’s win or go home. With only the opening-round winners advancing to the state tournament next week, the stakes couldn’t be higher for Sweetwater County’s boys and girls soccer programs. Green River’s boys team enters the tournament as the No. 4 seed and will take on No. 5 Riverton at 2 p.m. Thursday at Wolves Stadium, located next to Lincoln Middle School.

LARAMIE — Wyoming head football coach Jay Sawvel announced Thursday the addition of seven transfers for the 2025 season, bringing new depth and experience to the Cowboys’ roster across all three phases of the game. “We needed to augment the current roster that we have in certain ways to maximize the competition and depth of our team, and we feel like over the last ten days we have been able to do that,” Sawvel said.

ROCK SPRINGS — The Rock Springs Lady Tigers capped their regular season with a pair of home wins over rival Green River on Thursday, celebrating senior night with a dominant 4-0 conference victory followed by a tight 6-5 win in non-conference play. In the opener, junior pitcher Rilynn Wester was nearly untouchable, striking out nine and walking none in a complete-game shutout. She scattered five hits over seven innings to earn the win.

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah’s NHL franchise has a new name, and it’s a mammoth one. On Wednesday, Smith Entertainment Group (SEG) officially announced the Utah Hockey Club will now be known as the Utah Mammoth, unveiling a new team identity after more than a year of community engagement and four rounds of voting. “We couldn’t be more excited to launch the official name and marks for Utah’s NHL hockey team,” Ryan and Ashley Smith, owners of the Utah Mammoth said.
