RIVERTON – After a full season of swimming, diving and scoring high there was only one meet left before the pivotal State Championships in Gillette next weekend for the girls of Riverton High School (RHS) and Lander Valley High School (LVHS). That meet, the Last Chance Meet, took place Thursday night at Riverton Aquatic Center and saw quite a few Lady Wolverines and Lady Tigers stamp their ticket in multiple events at the deadline.

RIVERTON – After two straight 1-8 seasons for the Riverton Wolverines there was not supremely high expectations for new head coach Mark Lenhardt this season, but he was obviously not aware of that heading into the final game of the season against the Worland Warriors. The Wolverines held their own fate in their hands against Worland, with a win they would become 3A East Conference Champions for the first time since the 2012-13 season when they finished 7-3.

RIVERTON – The Riverton Wolverines (2-5, 2-1) have been celebrating all season long despite their record showing more losses than wins. That’s because they have improved dramatically under new Head Coach Mark Lenhardt, both on offense and defense, but heading into their week seven matchup against Buffalo (5-1, 3-0) they were also celebrating the fact they needed to beat the Bison by 11 points to hold all the cards in the class 3A playoff race.

ETHETE – After being postponed by a day due to the rainstorms that drenched Fremont County on Wednesday and Thursday, the 2A West Conference Cross Country Championships finally took place out in Ethete, where the past two State Championship races have been held. The 2A West or, as it’s better known, the Five Rivers Conference Championships, saw a lot of familiar faces from around Fort Washakie, St. Stephens, Thermopolis, Wind River and Wyoming Indian.

LANDER – The Lander Valley Lady Tigers have had an up-and-down season to say the least, with some of their earlier games going five sets just for the Lady Tigers to fall short of victories. But after a thrilling five-set win over Lyman on Thursday night the team seem inspired and ecstatic to take on the #1 team in class 3A, Mountain View.
