    The historic 29 Palms Art Gallery is hosting a full weekend of arts, crafts, food, music and fun. Local artisans will have paintings, prints, photographs, sculptures and more that would look great on a wall, make for dazzling gifts, or fit snugly into an Easter Basket. Three instructors are available for a little hands-on art: rock painting with Randy Ranieri, mosaics sponsored by Cathy Snodgrass and beadwork with Linda Arbuckle.There will be raffles for kids and adults.

    If you’ve seen the beautifully decorated utility boxes around Yucca Valley, you may not know that they were made by local artists. The Town is seeking new artists for additional utility boxes around town. The Town of Yucca Valley has announced that they are seeking six new Yucca Valley-based artists to create designs and artwork for six new wraps to adorn six additional utility boxes in visible locations through the town.

    Z107.7 was honored at the 75th Golden Mike Awards, put on by the Radio and Television News Association to celebrate excellence in broadcast news. Z107.7 was nominated for Best Weekend News Cast, anchored and edited by Online News Editor Robert Haydon. He was also nominated for his coverage of the first mobile record clearing event put on by the San Bernardino County’s Public Defenders office.

    The Morongo Basin’s annual Spell-a-Thon is happening on Saturday. Put on by the Morongo Basin Friends of the Library, the event sees 12 teams of kids and adults competing for spelling supremacy, all in the name of raising funds for public libraries in Yucca Valley, Joshua Tree, and Twentynine Palms. I spoke with Morongo Basin Friends of the Library Spell-a-Thon Committee Chair Debbie Medina, who told me about Saturday’s (March 22) event.
